I'm an Historical Romance author with 11 published books. It is my ultimate goal to be a full time writer and give up my secretarial job. I also have a resume/professional writing business entitled Accent on Writing, which I run out of my home office. Raised in the mountains of Western Colorado, I fantasized about cowboys, Indians and the Old West. When my two older children were babies I would go into the basement at night and write while everyone was asleep. My first book, Texas Rose, was published in 1987. Over the course of the next seven years I published eight more Historical Romances with Kenningston Publishing. A divorce and family issues were behind my decisions to put my writing career on the back burner, and my plan was to take one year off to deal with ‘real life’. It would be fourteen years before I found my way back to my passion and wrote my tenth novel. I was excited to sell Black Horse to Dorchester Publishing and immediately cranked out another book entitled, White Owl, which I also sold to Dorchester. I began working on a third Indian Romance called Grey Wolf when once again, my dream hit a snag. Dorchester was on the verge of bankruptcy and had stopped paying their authors. Since I have not received any royalties for my past two books I have put the third Indian book on hold indefinitely. I am now working on something entirely different, a Paranormal Romance, and I am looking for a new publisher. My first love will always be Historical Romance, but I have become obsessed with the current wave of vampire romances and I’m excited to see if I can find success in this genre.
My motto is growing old is mandatory….growing up is optional.
On my blog I post random stories about my writing life and my interests. I hope you will stop by to see me at wordpress. veronicablake1423.wordpress.ocm
2012-04-20 Hi Veronica, I just had to tell you how much I love your books. The first time I stumbled upon your books was at an antique store set up in a little nook. By accident -(I literally tripped and fell and that's how I came to be at eye level with them as they broke my fall:) I saw them and picked them up, I haven't set them down since. I am often surprised at how I am able to find diamonds in a batch of duds. That day I bought 'Texas Rose', 'Savage Dreams', and 'Cheyenne Temptress' took them home and have been a fan of your work ever since. Thanks for being such a fab author!!
